BIO-SAH 372N is a polycarbodiimide-based hydrolysis stabilizer developed for engineering plastics such as PBT, PA, and PBS. Featuring a carbodiimide content above 12%, it effectively scavenges carboxylic end groups to inhibit hydrolytic degradation. The light yellow powder form with a softening point of 55–65°C ensures easy processing and good dispersion. It significantly enhances long-term thermal and hydrolytic stability, making it ideal for applications exposed to heat and moisture.

Mechanism of Action

BIO-SAH 372N contains active carbodiimide groups that react with carboxylic acid end groups formed during polymer degradation. This reaction produces stable N-acylurea linkages, effectively eliminating the catalytic sites responsible for hydrolysis. By interrupting the autocatalytic degradation cycle, the additive preserves polymer molecular weight and mechanical performance over time.

Processing & Dosage

  • Recommended dosage: 0.5% – 2.5% depending on application requirements

  • Can be incorporated during extrusion, compounding, or injection molding

  • Pre-drying of polymer is recommended for optimal performance

Storage & Handling
