BIO-SAH 372N is a high-efficiency polycarbodiimide hydrolysis stabilizer specifically designed for engineering plastics, including polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), polyamide (PA), and biodegradable polyester (PBS). These materials are prone to hydrolysis due to ester or amide linkages, especially in environments involving high humidity, elevated temperatures, or long-term exposure to water. BIO-SAH 372N provides a robust solution by chemically neutralizing degradation-active species and extending the service life of the polymer.
Appearance: Light yellow powder
Softening Point: 55–65°C
Carbodiimide Content: ≥12%
Chemical Type: Polycarbodiimide
Efficient hydrolysis stabilization for engineering plastics
High carbodiimide functionality for strong reactivity
Improves mechanical retention after aging
Enhances resistance to heat and moisture
Suitable for long-term outdoor and humid applications
Good compatibility with PBT, PA, PBS systems
Powder form enables easy handling and uniform blending
BIO-SAH 372N is widely used in moisture-sensitive engineering plastic applications:
PBT components (automotive connectors, housings)
PA (Nylon) parts for electrical and mechanical applications
PBS biodegradable materials
Cable insulation and sheathing
Industrial parts exposed to humidity and heat
BIO-SAH 372N contains active carbodiimide groups that react with carboxylic acid end groups formed during polymer degradation. This reaction produces stable N-acylurea linkages, effectively eliminating the catalytic sites responsible for hydrolysis. By interrupting the autocatalytic degradation cycle, the additive preserves polymer molecular weight and mechanical performance over time.
Recommended dosage: 0.5% – 2.5% depending on application requirements
Can be incorporated during extrusion, compounding, or injection molding
Pre-drying of polymer is recommended for optimal performance
Store in a dry, cool environment and avoid exposure to moisture. Keep packaging tightly sealed. Standard industrial safety procedures should be followed during handling.
