Bio-SAH 362 is a high-performance hydrolysis stabilizer powder developed for biodegradable polyester systems, particularly PBAT (polybutylene adipate terephthalate). PBAT materials are widely used in biodegradable films, agricultural mulch films, and packaging applications due to their flexibility and environmental benefits. However, PBAT is highly sensitive to hydrolysis because of its ester-based molecular structure.
Under conditions of moisture, heat, and environmental exposure, PBAT undergoes hydrolytic degradation, leading to chain scission, reduction in molecular weight, and loss of mechanical properties such as tensile strength and elongation. This degradation can significantly affect processing stability and end-use performance.
Bio-SAH 362 addresses these challenges with its high purity and reliable reactivity. As a monomeric carbodiimide hydrolysis stabilizer, it reacts efficiently with carboxylic acid end groups generated during hydrolysis, preventing further degradation and stabilizing the polymer structure.
High purity and consistent quality
Strong and reliable reactivity (monomeric carbodiimide)
Excellent hydrolysis resistance for PBAT systems
Maintains molecular weight and mechanical performance
Minimal impact on transparency and appearance
Powder form for easy handling and dispersion
Suitable for biodegradable polymer applications
Bio-SAH 362 is widely used in:
PBAT biodegradable films
Agricultural mulch films
Compostable packaging materials
Biodegradable blends (PBAT/PLA systems)
Flexible film and sheet applications exposed to humidity
The active carbodiimide functional groups in Bio-SAH 362 react with carboxylic acid end groups formed during hydrolysis. This reaction produces stable N-acylurea structures, eliminating catalytic degradation sites and interrupting the hydrolysis cycle. As a result, the polymer maintains its molecular integrity and performance over time.
Recommended dosage: typically 0.5% – 1.5% for PBAT systems
Can be added during extrusion or compounding
Suitable for film blowing and casting processes
Store in a cool, dry place and avoid moisture exposure. Keep container tightly sealed. Follow standard industrial safety procedures.
