Bio-SAH 372N is a polycarbodiimide-based hydrolysis stabilizer designed for a wide range of modified polymer systems. It provides excellent resistance to hydrolysis by reacting with carboxylic end groups, effectively preventing chain degradation. Overview

Bio-SAH 372N is a high-performance polycarbodiimide hydrolysis stabilizer developed for blended and modified polymer systems. It is particularly effective in improving the hydrolytic stability of polymers containing ester or amide linkages, which are highly sensitive to moisture, heat, and long-term environmental exposure.

In many applications such as engineering plastics, elastomers, and biodegradable materials, hydrolysis leads to chain scission, reduction in molecular weight, and deterioration of mechanical properties. Bio-SAH 372N offers a reliable and long-lasting solution by chemically neutralizing degradation-active species and stabilizing polymer structures during both processing and service life.

Mechanism of Action

Bio-SAH 372N contains reactive carbodiimide functional groups that selectively react with carboxylic acid end groups formed during hydrolysis. This reaction produces stable N-acylurea structures, effectively eliminating the catalytic sites responsible for further degradation. By interrupting the autocatalytic hydrolysis cycle, the additive maintains molecular weight, mechanical strength, and overall material performance over extended periods.

Processing & Dosage

  • Recommended dosage: typically 0.5% – 2.5% depending on polymer system and performance requirements

  • Can be added during extrusion, compounding, or injection molding

  • Suitable for high-temperature processing conditions
