Bio-SAH MPET3613 is a high-performance hydrolysis stabilizer masterbatch based on a PET carrier resin and monomeric carbodiimide chemistry. It is specifically developed to improve the hydrolytic and thermal stability of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) materials during processing and end-use applications.
PET is widely used in fibers, films, packaging, and engineering components due to its excellent strength and processability. However, PET is highly sensitive to hydrolysis, especially during melt processing and in humid environments. Moisture and acidic degradation by-products can lead to polymer chain scission, reduced molecular weight, lower intrinsic viscosity (IV), and deterioration of mechanical properties.
Bio-SAH MPET3613 effectively addresses these challenges by incorporating highly reactive monomeric carbodiimide groups into a masterbatch form with PET as the carrier. This ensures excellent compatibility and uniform dispersion in PET systems.
PET-based carrier for superior compatibility
Monomeric carbodiimide for high reactivity and fast stabilization
Efficient inhibition of hydrolysis and acid degradation
Maintains intrinsic viscosity (IV) and molecular weight
Improves mechanical property retention and durability
Masterbatch form for easy handling and precise dosing
Enhances processing stability and reduces degradation
Bio-SAH MPET3613 is widely used in PET-based systems:
PET injection molding applications
PET fibers and filament yarns
PET films and sheets
Packaging materials
Engineering polyester components exposed to heat and moisture
The monomeric carbodiimide groups in MPET3613 react rapidly with carboxylic acid end groups generated during hydrolysis and thermal degradation. This reaction forms stable N-acylurea structures, eliminating catalytic degradation sites and preventing further chain scission. As a result, the hydrolysis cycle is effectively suppressed, preserving molecular integrity and ensuring consistent performance.
Recommended dosage: typically 1% – 3% depending on application
Can be dry-blended with PET resin prior to extrusion or injection molding
Compatible with standard PET processing conditions
Pre-drying of PET resin is recommended for optimal results
Store in a dry, cool environment and avoid moisture absorption. Keep packaging tightly sealed when not in use. Follow standard industrial safety procedures.
