Dio-HCA™ HQEE is a white flake aromatic diol chain extender based on Hydroquinone Bis(2-Hydroxyethyl) Ether (HQEE). It is used in MDI-based polyurethane elastomers, thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), and cast polyurethane systems where high mechanical strength, heat resistance, and stable hard-segment formation are required.
Compared with conventional 1,4-butanediol-based systems, HQEE is widely recognized for helping polyurethane elastomers achieve higher hardness, improved tensile and tear strength, better resilience, and stronger performance at elevated temperatures. It is especially suitable for high-performance polyurethane applications that require long-term mechanical stability and reliable processing performance.
Dio-HCA™ HQEE is designed for use with MDI and MDI-terminated prepolymers, where it helps build well-defined hard segments and supports improved elastomer properties.
The aromatic diol structure of HQEE helps enhance hardness, tensile strength, tear strength, and resilience in polyurethane elastomer formulations.
HQEE-based polyurethane systems are commonly selected for applications that demand better high-temperature performance than standard aliphatic diol chain extender systems.
This product can be used in TPU, cast polyurethane elastomers, and other polyurethane formulations where mechanical durability, dimensional stability, and long service life are critical.
Polyurethane elastomers
Thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU)
Cast polyurethane systems
Wheels and rollers
Seals and gaskets
Hydraulic cylinder seals
Forklift tires and industrial wear parts
Because HQEE has a relatively high melting point and tends to crystallize below its melting range, suitable preheating and temperature control are important during polyurethane processing. Processing conditions should be adjusted according to the formulation, isocyanate system, and equipment setup.
KSTO positions Dio-HCA™ HQEE within its polyurethane chain extender portfolio for customers seeking high-performance aromatic diol solutions. For formulation evaluation, it is recommended to confirm technical specifications, processing conditions, and the recommended use level according to your TPU or polyurethane elastomer application.
