Overview

BIO-SAH 362 Powder is a carbodiimide-based hydrolysis stabilizer specifically engineered for polyester polyurethane (PU) systems. Polyester-based materials are highly susceptible to hydrolysis due to the presence of ester bonds, especially under conditions of heat and humidity. BIO-SAH 362 provides an efficient and reliable solution by chemically reacting with carboxyl groups generated during degradation, thereby preventing autocatalytic hydrolysis and extending material lifespan.

Mechanism of Action

The carbodiimide functional groups in BIO-SAH 362 react selectively with carboxylic acid end groups formed during ester hydrolysis. This reaction forms stable N-acylurea structures, effectively eliminating the catalytic sites that accelerate further degradation. As a result, the hydrolysis cycle is interrupted, and the material retains its structural integrity over extended service periods.

Processing & Dosage

  • Recommended dosage: typically 0.5% – 2.0% depending on system requirements

  • Can be added during compounding or directly into the polymer matrix

  • Suitable for extrusion, injection molding, and coating processes

Storage & Handling
